The number new sold passenger cars new in 2016 were the highest in Belgium: 60 per 1.000 inhabitants. This in contrast with Germany and the Netherlands, where respectively 49 and 28 cars were sold per 1.000 inhabitants. These results are moreover interesting given the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita in Belgium is the lowest: € 37,800 versus € 39,500 (Germany) and € 43,300 (The Netherlands).
